1. Business Planning

Under the support from the WASH-FIN project, CWA helped prepare business plans for Ba Phnom and Bek Chan water stations and updated the business plan on the finances of Mr. LENG, Khiev, Prek Ambel and Khoun Bunhat water facilities through commercial loans. As a result, the project submitted three loan applications to ABA Bank, SME Bank and Japan Microfinance Institution (ISC) with a total amount of $1,900,000 USD.

2. Finding the Resources of Loans for the Expansion of Water Supply Services

The project is to assist the PWOs, with developing a business plan for (Water Sector) to meet the banks and microfinance institutions requirements.

In 2020, as a result of these business plans; four (4) of PWOs received loans from banks and microfinance institutions with a total amount of $1,640,000 US dollars.

3. Capacity Building of Water Supply Service Providers

      • The project provided 3 training courses on water quality management to 8 water facilities with a total of 26 participants (4 females).
      • The project organized a meeting to disseminate the water treatment assessment to 41 PWOs and prepare criteria for selecting 10 well-operated service PWOs to receive the incentives such as water quality testing kits from the project.
      • To assist PWO in monitoring water pressure, the project has produced a promotional video on how to use water pressure gauges.

4. Organizing Consultative Meetings at the Sub-national Level

The project facilitates PWOs by conducting the consultative meetings between sub-national authorities, PWOs, and also participated by the Secretariat of the National Committee for Sub-National Development (NCDD). As a result, the project coordinated 15 water facilities, organized 24 consultative meetings (9 at the district level and 15 at the commune level), organized the water tours to understand the process of water treatment plant, and tested the water quality at 18 water facilities.
