The Project
« Drought and flood resilience»

In response to the drought and to ensure the sustainability of water supply, especially in the dry season, the project has partnered with the Lumpong Water Supply facility to improve water sources by digging and expanding ponds to reserve more water.

In-order to meet the demand of people in the Lumpong Water Supply coverage areas. The project has provided 45 KVA Electricity Generator to the Lumpong water supply facility due to frequent outage of the electricity power.

Likewise, the project organized a training course on “Water Safety Plan” for 4 PWOs. The training aims to build the capacity of PWOs to prepare water safety plan documents for their stations.

In this training, there were the problems identified in four (4) specific locations, including water sources, treatment plants, reservoirs, and water distribution networks. As a result, the four water supply facilities have documented safety plans for their stations.

On the other hand, after the training, the project staff visited each water facility to help them identify the real challenges that exist at each water facility and start writing/developing a water safety plan.

In addition, the project cooperated with the General Department of Water Supply of the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation to draft “Guidelines on Drought Prevention Measures” and “Guidelines on Flood Prevention Measures”, then submitted the draft to the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation to review and prior officially launch.
